Claims emerged this week that popular dating site Badoo had been hacked, and that a large number of user account information was being freely circulated on the web.
Motherboard reported that it had tested account data that it been supplied with and found that in a small test sample over fifty percent were active Badoo accounts.
An official spokesperson for Badoo issued a statement to Motherboard denying that the site had been hacked. But the LeakedSource website claims to have obtained the data and has published a breakdown of details including the most popular passwords, email services and detailed look at the age ranges of the allegedly hacked member accounts.
We will be watching to see where this story goes. One thing that kind of shocked us (not really, though) is that according to the LeakedSource article, the top three most popular passwords in the data acquired were “123456”, “123456789” and “12345”. Wow.
